Eric Jennings

for Lawrence County Commission

Over the past three years, I've gained valuable experience and developed relationships with our community partners, strengthening my ability to serve effectively. I am running for another term because I'm committed to continuing this work and making sound, responsible, consistent, and fair decisions that move our county forward. Serving as a county commissioner means putting the needs of the county and its citizens first. It requires informed, objective decision-making rooted in facts, not personal preference. It also means being present in the community, listening to concerns, and building strong relationships to deliver practical solutions to real challenges.

Eric's Priorities

Property Taxes

South Dakota’s property taxes continue to rise, driven by higher home values and state valuation rules. While most of your taxes fund schools, a portion supports county services, and Lawrence County has worked to keep your tax rate as low as possible. We work to maintain roads, bridges, emergency services, and legal services without overburdening taxpayers.

Land Use

Lawrence County is growing, and with growth comes choices about housing, businesses, and land use. From preserving scenic views and wildlife habitat to supporting economic opportunities, I've worked on the county commission to balance the needs of families, retirees, and businesses.

Public Land Management

As a landowner, I know firsthand how public land management affects private property. Wildfire, invasive species, pests, and off-road travel impact everyone, and maintaining a healthy forest is critical for our water, timber, and grazing resources.

Fiscal Responsibility

Fiscal responsibility is essential to maintaining trust, stability, and long-term prosperity in our county. It means prioritizing needs over wants, making thoughtful, disciplined decisions about how public dollars are spent. By ensuring taxpayer money is used efficiently and wisely, we can protect essential county services, now and for future generations.
